With Spring just around the corner, now is the perfect time to refresh your home with awakened ideas.
Realtor.com released a study highlighting the fastest rising home features in home listings year-over-year. Specifically, the study ranks how often certain home features appear in active for-sale descriptions in 2025, compared to listing descriptions in 2024. The data reveals what prospective buyers really want.
Whether you’re incorporating these trends as a new Spring revamp or in preparation to sell your home, we highlight how you can incorporate each within your own spaces.

Both homebuyers and sellers are focusing on energy efficiency at home. WaterSense fixtures were ranked number one on the trends list. According to the United States’ Environmental Protection Agency, WaterSense-labeled products and services use at least 20% less water than regular models. Installing WaterSense labeled toilets, sinks and faucets, and showerheads may help reduce utility costs and your home’s environmental impact.
Electric vehicle (EV) charging stations and net-zero energy features were also ranked highly. Net-zero refers to using efficient features to achieve power use neutrality.
Notable renovations and upgrades that help achieve a net-zero household may include:

Smart home appliances and devices connected to the internet continue to dominate home feature searches. Smart phones and applications like Siri or Alexa are examples of “internet of things” (IoT) connections. Some applications can be controlled through a personalized application, allowing users to customize their lighting, adjust locks and cameras, or HVAC to certain settings or schedules.
IoT connections and smart devices are both convenient and reliable for savvy homeowners, helping to optimize a home’s energy consumption and help you feel more secure.

Biophilic design describes a nature-first mentality. Green things or plants are usually the first things people think of when nature is mentioned. While growing things are an important part of biophilia, the design style also calls for the incorporation of water and natural light.
Realtor.com listings saw an increase of listings with indoor-outdoor spaces separated by sliding or folding doors, indoor courtyards, or living walls with vertically growing plants.
If your space doesn’t allow for large renovations, there are interior design choices you can make instead, such as focusing on wood, linen, and other natural textures in your furniture and décor. Having plants around can also organically boost your mood during periods of stress.
